Welcome, Beta Tester

Help us build the best rowing coaching tool on the planet.

I built Krew Koach because as a rower who loves the sport and loves being coached, I wanted better ways to capture and review coaching videos, easier ways to interact with coaches, and a way to give athletes real feedback β€” even when a coach isn't available. Coaches put huge time and passion into the sport β€” this app is meant to support them and the athletes they coach.

πŸ… Getting Started
  1. Read this through to the end first β€” it'll save you time once you're in the app.
  2. Then go to app.krewkoach.com on your phone, tablet, or computer
  3. Sign up (free)
  4. Choose Coach or Athlete
  5. Start exploring
🀝 Connecting Coach + Athlete

Athlete: Invite your coach from your Profile page using their email.

Coach: Ask an athlete to sign up and send you an invite β€” you'll see it in your Athletes tab.

No partner? Text Mike and he'll connect you with another tester.

🎯 No Coach? No Problem.

You don't need a coach to use Krew Koach. Upload a video on your own, get structured technique feedback, work through priorities and drills at your own pace, and ask follow-up coaching questions anytime.

Krew Koach was built for athletes with coaches and athletes without.

πŸ‹οΈ Athletes β€” Try These
  • Upload a video and get your analysis
  • Review your results with zoom and slow motion
  • Choose a focus area before your next upload (catch, drive, balance, etc.)
  • Ask coaching questions about your rowing
  • Send a feedback request to your coach
  • Browse the drill library
  • Use the Rigging Calculator PDF Export

Then keep exploring β€” there's more to find.

✏️ Coaches β€” Try These
  • Upload a video and see Krew Koach break down your athlete's stroke
  • Upload a crew video β€” analyze every seat from one clip
  • Record a voiceover on an athlete's session
  • Draw on the video with annotation tools
  • Add session notes for your athlete
  • Ask coaching questions
  • Use the Rigging Calculator PDF Export

Then keep exploring β€” there's more to find.

πŸ“± A Note on the App Experience

Krew Koach is a web app β€” it runs in your browser on any device, with no download required. It works great on your phone, tablet, or computer. A few things to know:

  • For the best experience on mobile, use it in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android) and add it to your home screen for a near-native feel.
  • On desktop or tablet, bookmark it or install via Chrome for quick access.
  • Video uploads work best on a stable Wi-Fi connection β€” large files over cellular can be slow.
  • Some features (like camera access for direct recording) may behave differently across browsers. If something doesn't work as expected, try a different browser or let us know.

Native iOS and Android apps are on the roadmap.

πŸ”₯ What I Need From You

Please be brutally honest. Tell me what breaks, what's confusing, what's missing, and whether you'd actually use it. Screenshots help a lot.

What makes it different

Built from the coaching gap β€” not from a lab

Many club rowers don't get enough individual coaching. Not because coaches don't care β€” because there isn't enough time. Feedback can get rushed, repeated, or forgotten before it can make a difference. Krew Koach exists because that gap is real β€” and we heard it from 20+ clubs across North America.

Not a data app. A coaching app.

Speed, rate, and splits tell you what happened. Krew Koach tells you what to do about it β€” in natural coaching language that resonates. Each video runs through a multi-stage analysis pipeline β€” including frame-level review, distinct analysis modes, and cross-checked evaluation using multiple models β€” designed to improve accuracy, reduce variability, and produce reliable feedback you can actually use.

Works with a coach β€” or on your own

Use Krew Koach alongside your coach to reinforce and retain their feedback. Or use it independently to get clear, structured direction when you're training without one. Either way, you get coaching that's organized, specific, and always available.

Coaching that actually sticks

A human coach might see 30 athletes in a morning. Details get lost. Krew Koach captures feedback, structures it, and saves it permanently β€” so nothing needs repeating, and every session builds on the last.

Turn rowing video into clear, structured coaching

Krew Koach uses a purpose-built, proprietary analysis system that combines structured rowing biomechanics with AI to deliver consistent, actionable feedback from your video. Two ways to use it β€” different starting point, same system.

01

Record your row

Film from shore, a bridge, a boat, a drone, or a boat-mounted camera. No coach needed.

02

Upload and start analysis

Upload your video and request analysis when you're ready. You can guide the focus β€” or let Krew Koach identify what matters most.

03

Krew Koach feedback

Krew Koach analyzes your stroke across catch, drive, finish, and recovery β€” giving you clear, structured coaching feedback on your technique.

04

Get clear feedback, drills, and cues

Krew Koach provides actionable coaching feedback on what to work on, with specific drills and actionable cues.

05

Ask coaching questions anytime

Ask follow-up questions about technique or training. Get clear answers and next steps whenever you need them.

06

Review like a coached athlete

Zoom in, slow it down, and loop key moments. If you later work with a coach, you'll see their notes and hear their voice directly on your sessions.

07

Progress that compounds

Every session is saved. Revisit past work anytime and build real progress over time.

Crew Video Analysis

Upload one video of your entire crew. Analyze every seat individually. Push results to each athlete's account automatically.

Multiply your reach.
Keep your voice.

Many club coaches are overworked or under-supported, and many rowers get only snippets of feedback when time allows. Krew Koach gives you a way to multiply your coaching reach, making sure your messaging sticks. Can be reviewed and your athletes can listen to it while watching themselves row.

"This is not a replacement for coaches. It is a tool to help coaches give better, more consistent, and permanent coaching β€” and to provide excellent coaching feedback to those who don't have access to a human coach."

β€” Mike Vopni, Founder

You stay the coach. Krew Koach's analysis is consistent and transparent, but your word is still the one that matters.
Athletes can replay it while watching themselves row. Feedback doesn't disappear after practice. Athletes can listen, rewatch, and absorb it on their own time.
Designed around crowded docks. Krew Koach assumes your practices are busy β€” limited time, limited individual attention.
Fair and predictable for club budgets. Per-seat pricing scales with your roster β€” pay for what you use, nothing more.

Rigging Calculator

Your body. Your power. Your race. Your rig.

The Krew Koach rigging calculator builds a complete, personalized rig from your actual body, your actual power, and your actual race β€” not a generic chart. Enter your erg score, arm span, stroke rate, and blade type and it computes span, oar length, inboard, gate height, pitch, footstretcher, and arc angles from the physics up.

It even accounts for saltwater buoyancy and headwind β€” details no standard rigging chart considers. Every recommendation carries a confidence grade so you know exactly how much to trust it, and if a computed oar length falls outside what your blade manufacturer actually makes, it tells you.

Two minutes of input. A full personalized rig to take to the dock.

Why I built
Krew Koach

I came back to competitive rowing after decades away and ran straight into the same problem every club rower already knows: there aren't enough coaches, the ones who are there are stretched too thin, and most athletes fall through the cracks.

I started talking to clubs. More than 20 across North America. Coaches told me they were overwhelmed. Athletes told me they were guessing. Everyone said the same thing: the feedback isn't getting through.

Krew Koach is what I built to fix that. Not a data dashboard. Not a fitness tracker. A coaching tool β€” one that gives athletes structured, specific, permanent feedback on their technique, and gives coaches a way to extend their reach without losing their voice.

It's built by a rower, for rowers. And it was built after enough conversations with coaches to know that the best version of this tool is one that helps them β€” not replaces them.
